A group of local citizens demonstrate at Brownfield Park every Saturday starting at noon. They plan to demonstrate weekly until construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline is stopped for good. “Defund DAPL! Say no to Wells Fargo! Say no to pipelines and oil-trains! Water is life!”
The group is also demonstrating at banks that finance the Dakota Access Pipeline. At 2:00pm they moved to the sidewalk on SW Court Ave to continue demonstrating at Safeway which has a Wells Fargo branch inside.
According to local man Peter Walters they will continue until construction efforts at the pipeline cease. He stated that at least 20 people from the Pendleton area had already gone to Standing Rock including himself. In reference to the companies involved in the construction of the pipeline he stated “they weren’t prepared for the stand that was taken.”
