After Ban Overturned Pendleton Set To Get Two Pot Shops

On January 5, 2017 the Pendleton Planning Commission voted to approve conditional use permits for two recreational marijuana dispensaries. Pendleton Cannabis LLC hopes to open a dispensary at 816 Southgate, and Kind Leaf LLC hopes to open a dispensary at 1733 SW Court Ave. The conditional use permit is the final step of the local process, but both still require licensing from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission before they are allowed to open.

Pendleton Cannabis is set to open at 816 Southgate, which was formerly Premium Lube near Time to Wash and Wendy’s. Owner Shawn Pace told the Pendletonian Times that “everything is turned in,” and that as soon as construction is finished OLCC will inspect the location. Pace expects the business to open in 30 to 60 days.

Kind Leaf is set to open at 1733 SW Court Ave in the Lutz Mall. Owner Brandon Krenzler described the business as an “Eastern Oregon craft cannabis boutique.” According to Krenzler, Kind Leaf hopes to become a “model for what an Eastern Oregon dispensary can be.”

Planning staff present at the hearing commented that six additional businesses have expressed interest in opening dispensaries in Pendleton.
