Is It Clean Enough For You People?

Various Pendleton City Councilors have stated that the recent decision to try out the new-and-improved nuisance ordinance on the Quezadas gave them heartburn. We’re not doctors, but that little stunt should not only bring heartburn, but a bit of sleep loss as well!

Councilor Cambier, you’re a physician! We need an expert’s opinion! Councilor Cambier was supportive of the extension, along with Councilors Brenne and Fairley.

We understand that there are laws that we need to follow. The uniform application of those laws is expected by all. It shouldn’t matter whether you have connections, rules are rules.

One rule that the elected officials would do well to adhere to is the rule of the people. They may have voted you in, but they’ll vote you out just as quick. Just ask Al Plute! While he stepped down instead of being removed forcibly, his story gives an example of how Pendletonians might react when they feel you made the wrong choice. They will spend their own cash, and use their own time to fight what they perceive to be injustice, even if they are dead wrong!

We at the Times feel that the masses are not dead wrong this time. The East Oregonian sensed some funny business as well, so it’s not just us.

Construction sites are messy, but 12 degree weather is no excuse to have a messy construction site; what if a tourist saw it? The five who voted against the extension should be ashamed of themselves. Is this the type of hospitality that we want Pendleton to be known for?
