Letter: Vote no on Fire Bond

Putting the fire station at the old hospital site will certainly increase the value of the remaining property belonging [to] St. Anthony’s. The city should renegotiate and get the property for free. If we are putting the fire station in the wrong place, the taxpayers should get something out of it.

The best place for a new fire station is the old theater site. Close to the center of the city, best place for fire protection and ambulance service. No one has been able to convince me that the old hospital site will improve the response time for the majority of Pendleton residents.

Last but not least, I will buy lunch for anyone who can show me a property tax bill for this year that has a bond payment for the city or county. If this is such a great deal why would the city lie to us? Vote no.
