Man who Died at Rainbow Gathering Identified

CANYON CITY, Ore. – Grant County Sheriff Glenn Palmer said in a press release dated July 2 that an unidentified male has died at the Rainbow Gathering currently being held near Seneca, Oregon. Now, Palmer says that the deceased has been identified and that he is working on notifying next of kin.

Officers from the U.S. Forest Service, Oregon State Police, and GCSO responded to the gathering near the Flagtail Meadows area on the Malheur National Forest regarding a male that died near a makeshift medical booth that is set up at the festival. An Emergency Room doctor from Kentucky who was in attendance attempted CPR for approximately 20 minutes.

The deceased was taken to Driskill Memorial Chapel in John Day and fingerprints were taken and sent to the OSP Identification Bureau for identification.

In a press release dated July 3, Palmer stated that the man had been positively identified. His identity will be released after next-of-kin are notified. Palmer says he will be working the evening of July 3 through the Independence Day holiday if needed to notify next-of-kin.
