Audubon Society Adds to Reward for Information

According to a news release from Oregon State Police, The Audubon Society is offering a reward of up to $1000 to anyone who comes forward with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the poacher or group of poachers that killed a bald eagle sometime around June 27, 2017. The Audubon Society is the latest group to add money to the reward pot with $1,000 rewards being offered by the Oregon Hunters Association Yamhill Chapter, Oregon Hunters Association Tualatin Valley Chapter, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

On June 28, 2017 OSP responded to the area of Old Highway 47 and Looking Glass Drive after a wounded bald eagle was reported. The bald eagle had originally been reported the previous week but had been able to evade capture. Troopers followed the wounded bald eagle through thick brush and a “knee deep swampy marsh area” before finally capturing it.

The wounded bald eagle was taken to the Audubon Society where an evaluation determined that its injury was likely the result of a gunshot wound.
