The overturn of the ban on recreational and medical marijuana dispensaries in Pendleton forced city officials to adopt regulations that govern marijuana business in the city. Pendleton Cannabis LLC and Kind Leaf LLC have applied for conditional use permits that will allow them to operate within the city-limits. The Pendletonian Times interviewed Shawn Pace of Pendleton Cannabis LLC and Brandon Krenzler of Kind Leaf LLC via telephone.
Pendleton Cannabis LLC is owned by Shawn and Roalynn Pace, newcomers to the marijuana industry. When asked why he chose to open a dispensary in Pendleton, Pace said “I grew up here. This is my hometown.”
He expects to open the dispensary in 30 to 60 days. When asked, he stated that he expects a “little bit” of marijuana tourism. He added that Pendleton Cannabis will also sell marijuana-paraphernalia.
Kind Leaf LLC is owned by Bradly Olson and Brandon Krenzler. Krenzler is not a newcomer to the marijuana-industry, with over ten years experience. When asked why he thought that Pendleton would be a good place to open a dispensary, he said that there is a “lack of safe regulated access in this area, leaving room for black market business only.”
If all licenses are in place he also hopes to open in 30 to 60 days. He “definitely” believes that Pendleton will see a lot of marijuana tourism. “I-84 is well traveled, Round-Up and the Pendleton Underground bring a lot of tourism.”
The Pendleton Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the matter January 5th, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the City Council Chambers.
